When Heide Moeller dropped by to take a look at our house for
sale, she quick sketched the diagram above explaining the difference between a
gambrel vs gable roof with regard to internal support structures, and
considering other elements of the construction, why our house was most
definitely constructed 1740-1760 or very close to that ... in other words the
bones of our house are older than the United States itself.
The little square under the roof on the right follows the
description of the development of eyebrow windows.
The ease with which Heide provided the sketch is not
surprising, because Heide has a degree in Fine
Arts, is a sculptor and former gallery owner plus artists' rep in Warwick, NY
and has an MBA (one can always use more knowledge).
The MBA does not necessarily
account for her encyclopedic knowledge of old houses, but it is certainly
another indication that this woman is bright and, as the image above shows,
creative.
She loves helping people figure
out unique uses for repurposed housing, and she is very, very good at doing
so.
We will be posting more images
of her work and process as she continues to help us with real estate purchases
and sales.
We are lucky people, and if
anybody ever asks you whether Heide is an artist or real estate agent you may
confidently answer that she
is an artist ... but she also knows a thing or two about real estate.
