WRITE-IN
POWER TO THE PEOPLE
After significant research regarding the Town of Chester Highway Department's lack of Superintendent, due to the previous one going to jail for shooting a fleeing food delivery person in the back, it is clear the lack of a Superintendent is not the problem.
The Highway Department continues to function fine with other personnel (plus the Town Supervisor) filling in.
The true problem is that the only candidate running for the office of Superintendent is running unopposed and appears to be of the same ilk as the jailed official.
During my interview for the interim position I was asked several times if I would be interested in running for the office.
I always gave an emphatic NO!
However, nobody ever stepped forward to run, and the time to file has passed, while efforts to get an alternative on the ballot seem weak, so the situation is dire.
My refusal to run at this point becomes disingenuous; after all I did say that I would do whatever it takes to handle the Superintendent job.
Therefore, I have started researching what is possible with a write-in campaign.
The bottom line is that a write-in vote is fraught with pitfalls.
But I never fall, so here we go.
My campaign will be like nothing local voters have ever seen.
If I am lucky it will inspire someone else to do the same, and I will gladly bow out... if they are a reasonable choice.
Here is some basic information.
As far as I know, not one from the list of Orange County parties shown below will have a candidate running for Highway Superintendent standing against the unopposed Republican, who is apparently as bad as the one vacated to prison; if I am wrong leave a comment.
